There is more to firefighting than wrapping fire blankets on someone whose clothing is on fire. Whenever you respond to fire emergencies, you need to prepare yourself for what you are about to see and what you have to do. You would need to be able to focus on the job at hand because time is a crucial element in a fire situation.

As things could easily get out of control in emergencies, you should have presence of mind and not prone to panic. Things could get ugly fast and if you are not up for the job, it could mean not being able to save a life. As firefighting is a team effort, whatever you do would affect the members of your team. One wrong move from you would mean endangering not just your life but the people around you as well. This is why you have to be good at your job and be able to work well with your team.
During fire emergencies, you need to be able to assess the situation well in order to make the right decisions. You also have to know how to use all the fire equipment, firefighting devices, and fire blankets properly and for the right reasons.
